We have two cottages and a year round home available for weekly rent. They are on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan about 50 miles directly north of downtown Milwaukee and 55 miles south of Green Bay just east of I-43.
While our home and cottages are nice, the main attraction here is the beautiful Lake Michigan beach. Without a doubt the sand is some of the finest in the world. On top of that the beach is private. The lake, while generally cool until August, has a sandy bottom that gradually becomes deeper. There is beach furniture and a few beach toys. If the salmon are running it’s possible, but not frequent, to catch dinner while wading in the lake. For most though it’s a cup of coffee watching the sun rise, the warm sand on toes while reading a book in the late morning, the long walks before lunch, sand castles being built in the afternoon after a nap, the talk around the bonfire late into the evening, the night sky filled with the Milky Way and moonlight shimmering on the water as the sound of gentle waves carry you to sleep.
There is a grocery store, hardware store, post office and two restaurants in Oostburg, two miles directly west. There’s lots of shopping in Sheboygan, Kohler, Cedar Grove, Sheboygan Falls and other small towns in the area. Plenty of golf courses are available for every ability level, including Whistling Straits, Black Wolf Run and The Bull. A tour of the Kohler Display Center is possible. Also the John Michael Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan is a special place.
